In theory, Navajo carvings are not fetish material. In fact, when Navajos wanted protective carvings for their domestic animals, the traditionally turned to Zuni carvers to create them. In the age of art created for market and collectors. however, some Navajo carvers have become very accomplished and established a style of art carving all their own. Ben Livingston is one of them.
