This page is devoted to the work of Lionel Sanchez, (below).

Lionel is San Felipe, not Zuni, and is married the daughter of Wilson Romero, Cochiti Pueblo. Lionel lives at Cochiti. Whereas Zuni carvers tend to use more formal materials including semiprecious stones and mined minerals, Lionel and the Romero family uses more common-place rocks, often found lying in the open on the stream banks and fields of the Cochiti Pueblo. As a result, these carvings are more organic and rougher than those of their Zuni or Navajo counterparts.
