PS: References to detritus and flotsam simply refer to the inedible materials discarded after the meat was consumed as subsistence for the hunters and their families. After being washed out to sea for as long as decades, some of this material reappears on the shore or floating nearby. This is prized carving material, often in a belief it contains the spirit of its source. It may have been bone or walrus tusk, words that are discouraged by the lords of the search engines.
