Melvin Sandoval, who lives at San Felipe Pueblo, has a deep Zuni tradition through his wife, Irma, and their children. He carved this adult owl embracing a juvenile owl in root beer stone. It has the impressionistic style that characterizes all Melvin Sandoval’s carvings. We acquired it directly from Melvin Sandoval at his San Felipe Pueblo home in 2016.
